Joan M. Visten, 83, a longtime Samish community resident, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
Joan was born on November 2, 1932 in Lyman, the daughter of Francis & Nellie (Bryson) Wagner. While she was still a small girl, the family moved to Sedro-Woolley where she attained her education and she graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1950.
On June 27, 1950 she was united in marriage to Les Visten and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley until moving to the Samish area in 1956. Joan was a terrific wife, mother, grandmother and home manager. She enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling to rodeos in the motorhome, especially to the Calgary Stampede.
Joan is survived by her son, Mick Visten and his wife Kathe of Samish; two grandchildren, Jason Visten of Mount Vernon and Micki Visten of New Mexico;
two great-grandchildren, Tyler & Shealeigh Visten; her brother,
John Wagner of Oregon; her sister, Dorothy Rood and her husband Ken of Bellingham, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Les in 2014 and her sister-in-law, Peggy Wagner.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Retired Policeman’s Guild. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
Joan was such a sweet woman, enjoyed life to the fullest. Joan, will be missed by all who knew her. God Bless
I am sorry to hear about Joan’s death. I went to S-W schools with her. She was a very nice girl. I know she will be missed.
