JoAnna Lemley

Tuesday, January 24th, 2017

JoAnna Kathryn Lemley, 83, a lifelong Skagit County resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.  She was born on July 22, 1933 in Clear Lake, WA, the daughter of Hubert & Dolly (Gay) Land.

JoAnna was raised and attended grade school in Clear Lake and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1951.

On June 30, 1951 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Dick Lemley.  They made their home in Minnesota, back to Sedro-Woolley and then Los Angeles where Dick completed his Funeral Service Certification, returning to Sedro-Woolley in 1955.

JoAnna was a dedicated wife, mother, referee and disciplinarian for her family. For several years she worked part time for her friend, Maxine Brier in her clothing store, where she could keep up on the latest fashions and all the gossip. She also volunteered for many years with the Skagit County Election Board.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi (or eat a bite of pie, as Dick would call it) and of Soroptomist, where she volunteered at the Walnut Tree Thrift Store.

JoAnna was very social and loved to host and entertain guests at her home and at the cabin on Lake Samish.  She and Dick also enjoyed traveling and snowbirding to Desert Hot Springs.

JoAnna is survived by her daughter, Kathy Bodrock of Spokane; her sons and their wives, Rick & Debbie Lemley of Sedro-Woolley and Randy & Marlene Lemley of Everett; her brother, Harry Land and wife Cory of Port Angeles; sisters, Norma Harrold and husband Scott of Sun City West, AZ and Linda Rimmer and husband Bill of Mount Vernon; brothers-in-law, Bob Lemley and wife Judy and Malloy Rowland and sisters-in-law, LouAnn Davis and Shirley Lemley; 9 grandchildren, Tara Mixon, Brady O’Brien, Eric Bodrock, Evan Lemley, Lauren King, Kayla Phillips, Carissa Leckenby, and Jonathan & James Lemley; 3 great-grandchildren, Ella Leckenby, Braden Lemley and Mackenzie King and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert & Dolly; sister, Peggy Pitman Rowland and husband Dick Lemley.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Linda Haddon, Celebrant. Visitation will be available from 9AM to 5PM Monday thru Friday at Lemley Chapel. Private inurnment will be at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery at a later date. The family extends a very heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Creekside Memory Care for their affection and care for JoAnna. During our almost 70 year friendship[ with Dick and Joanna we spent countless hours in their home, taking trips together and spending time at Desert Hot Springs. Joanna was always the perfect hostess and her wonderful disposition lit up the environment. This is almost like losing a family member.
