John A. Davis

Wednesday, January 11th, 2006

John A. Davis, age 65, passed away January 11, 2006 in Mount Vernon, WA after more than 35 years struggling with schizophrenia, which finally caused his death. John was born in Sedro-Woolley, WA on May 27, 1940 and lived there attending school and graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School with the Class of 1958. In 1959, he joined the US Air Force. John was fascinated with airplanes and flying his entire life. He realized his dream of becoming a pilot in the mid 60’s and flew for many years for an air taxi service in Seattle and as a bush pilot in Petersburg, AK. John married Ann Naze in 1958 and they had a son Greg in 1964.
John was fun to be with, energetic, witty, humorous and enjoyed some good years until Greg died in 1982. This loss contributed to his mental illness which worsened after the death of his son.
John moved to Edison, WA in the mid 1980’s and lived there with his mother, Clare Davis-Jensen until 2002. During those years he continued his interest in model airplanes, and will be remembered in Edison as the guy who flew the planes at the school. He also wrote poetry during his Edison years and may be remembered by some as the mad poet/philosopher. John had severed most of the relationships in his life and lived alone in Mount Vernon, WA from 2002 till his death.
John would not have wanted a funeral and he will be cremated. His surviving siblings, Judy Robertson, Robert Davis, and Steve Davis and their children will contact family and friends at a later date for a get-together to remember John. Memorials are suggested in John’s name to Children’s Hospital, Seattle at seattlechildrens.org or by calling 206-987-2153. Arrangements and cremation under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, WA.
