Julia ‘Judy’ Dudley Gellein, 82, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at her home on Friday, April 21, 2006 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on September 15, 1923 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph W. & Lucile M. Cruz Chestnut. She was raised and attained her education in Indiana.
In the early 1940’s she moved to Seattle where she met and was united in marriage to Gordon Dudley, and together they made their home and raised their family in Kirkland.
Judy worked as a waitress and restaurant manager at several restaurants in the Kirkland area over the years, retiring in 1984 after her husband Gordon passed away.
Judy enjoyed all styles of dancing, especially tap and ballroom and for a while was a dance instructor for the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Seattle.
In 1988 she married Kenneth Gellein and they made their home in Palm Springs, CA where she enjoyed golfing, and also in Sedro-Woolley.
Judy was also a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was always saying, ‘My kids are my life’.
She is survived by her husband Ken at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Her four daughters, Julia Dudley, Sherrie Gugel, Linda Montgomery and Michelle Graham all of Sedro-Woolley and her son, John Dudley of Oxnard, CA. 2 sisters and 1 brother in Indiana, 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Gordon she was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Skagit Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Lemley Chapel, with Pastor Mary Bosell of the Burlington Lutheran Church officiating. Private interment will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue, WA.
