Lavon Maxine Banta, age 86, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2006 at her son’s home near Concrete, WA.
She was born February 10, 1920 in Zenia, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Arminnie Burke Meek.
Lavon grew up in Kansas and resided in Wichita for many years until moving to Seattle in 1953 where she worked as a clerk for the King County Library System. She has resided in Sedro-Woolley for the past ten years. She was a religious person and attended the Nazarene Church in Seattle. Lavon enjoyed shopping especially at thrift stores and crocheting blankets for her grandchildren who she loved to spend time with.
She is survived by her son, Ron Banta of Concrete and a daughter, Romelle Hedberg of Kamiah, ID. 9 grandchildren, Randy Alumbaugh and his wife Linda, Ron Alumbaugh and his wife Molly, Kim Alumbaugh and her husband Bart Moody, Chris Banta, Teddy Haussler and his wife Jennifer, Tony Banta and his wife Tina, Jason Banta and his wife Lori, Donnie Banta and his wife Yvonne, and Angela Banta. 14 great grandchildren, Dayton and Dalton Alumbaugh, Tyler, Christopher, and Ronnie Alumbaugh, Derrik Conley, Isabel Banta, Koby Haussler, Chad and Cody Banta, Tanner, Alaina, Caitlin, and Taylor Banta. 2 sisters, Leila Tracy of Forest Grove, OR and Jackie Triets of Pittsburg, KS.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel with Pastor Ron Edwards of the Hamilton Baptist Church officiating with interment to follow at the Bow Cemetery.
