Lawrence ‘Larry’ Cheer, age 63, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2007 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA. He was born August 5, 1943 in Concrete, WA, the son of Clarence and Philomena Moses Cheer.
Larry grew up in Leavenworth, WA and later resided in Seattle for many years working at the Pink Elephant Car Wash. He enjoyed squid fishing on the Seattle Piers and he had a fascination for learning about Chinese culture while living in Seattle. Larry was a member of the Upper Skagit Tribe and the Chief Seattle Club. He has been a resident of the Josephine Care Center in Stanwood for the past five years.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters; Ernie Cheer of Sedro-Woolley, Lorraine DeNobrega of Winlock, Dana Cheer of Sedro-Woolley, and Dorraine Booth and her husband Ray Williams of Swinomish. His aunts; Anita Cheer of Omak and Annabelle Dallaire of Sedro-Woolley and cousins; Rose Marie Williams, Edith Bob, Charlene Cladoosby, Vernitta John, and Linnette Hernandez. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Willard Cheer.
Prayer Services will be Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 7:00 PM and Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Upper Skagit Tribal Gymnasium with Merle Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Harry Moses Indian Cemetery in Marblemount with services provided by members of the Shaker Church. A dinner reception will follow the services at the Concrete Shaker Church on the Concrete Sauk Valley Rd. Memorials are suggested to the Chief Seattle Club or any of the Homeless Shelters in Western Washington. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
