LEOLA H. OSIER, a longtime Clear Lake resident passed away on Sunday April 26, 1998 at the Mira Vista Care Center in Mount Vernon. She was 82 years of age. She was born on August 27, 1915 in Wiscasset, Maine, the daughter of Leo & Ethel Higgins Wass. Leola was raised and educated in Maine. She was united in marriage to Gerald Osier on January 12, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts and they made their home in Boston until moving to Whatcom County in 1948, residing in Ferndle. In 1963 they moved to Clear Lake. Mrs. Osier was well known in Skagit County as "The Cake Lady" for making beautiful and elaborate wedding cakes. She also enjoy writing poetry, art, gardening and sewing. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gerald, of Clear Lake. 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Elissa & Mickey McCoy of Oak Harbor and Susn & Oran A. Basel, III of Nashville, TN. 4 grandchildren, Stephen Cavender of Oak Harbor, Jason Basel and his wife Jennifer of Eva Beach, HI, Samantha Basel and Oran A. Basel, IV both of Nashville, TN. 5 great-grandchildren, Jacob Wierseman of Oak Harbor, Sebastian Basel of Beav Beach, HI, Ethan Wiersema of Oak Harbor, Preston Ray of Belfair, WA and Zada Abrams of Oak Harbor. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Elthea E. A. Osier.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday April 30, 1998 at 11:00 am at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, Mr. Marvin Hansen will officiate. Cremation and inurnment under direction of Lemley Chapel. Memorials to the American Lung Assoication are suggested.
