Leonard Clayton Wright, 57, a lifelong Skagit Valley resident, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born on September 2, 1948 in Mount Vernon, the son of Wanda Harold.
Leonard was raised and attended school in Mount Vernon, graduating from MVHS with the class of 1967. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.
Following his discharge in 1971 he began working for Skagit Corporation in Sedro-Woolley as a heavy equipment mechanic, working there for 13 years. He then ventured out on his own working as an auto mechanic for the past 23 years. He could fix just about anything mechanical.
Leonard enjoyed watching western movies and reading western books, target shooting, bowling playing pool with his happy hour friends and playing with his granddogs.
He was a longtime member of the George Baldridge Post 43 American Legion in Sedro-Woolley where he volunteered for the honor guard for other fallen veterans.
He was the best dad, grandpa, mechanic and loyal friend. He is dearly loved and will be missed by so many. We love you dad.
Leonard is survived by his children, Kim Orestad and her husband, Brian of Lyman and Matt Smith of Mount Vernon. His granddaughter, Brittany Orestad. His mother, Wanda Wright of Bellingham. 2 brothers, Don Wright of La Conner and Arvin Wright of Sedro-Woolley and 1 sister, Lerona ‘Crissy’ Allen in California. His special friend, Nada Crabtree and many friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandpa, Leonard L Harold.
A Potluck Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the home of his daughter, Kim, 33180 Hamilton Cemetery Road in Lyman.
Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of Skagit County. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
