Luanne Claudia Sultze, age 87, passed away on June 10, 2016 in Burlington, Washington.
Luanne was born on October 22, 1928 in Mobridge, South Dakota. She grew up in a house on a corner lot near the railroad station in Mobridge, where her father was an engineer. Luanne was an outstanding scholar and she loved singing and playing the piano. She rivaled the boys in any neighborhood sports and frequently got into mischief with her brother Hap, much to the chagrin of their older sister Ruth, who was supposed to be watching them.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in Business from MacMurray College in Illinois, and after graduating, worked as an accountant and bookkeeper in Appleton, Wisconsin, where she met her future husband Rolland Fred Sultze, Jr., on a blind date. The two were married on October 3, 1953.
Luanne and Rolly settled in Everett, Washington, where they raised four children. Luanne was passionately committed to supporting her children in whatever life directions they chose. She encouraged them to follow their hearts, stay true to themselves, and to show love and compassion to all.
Luanne will be remembered for her feisty and independent nature, sharp mind, and humble and generous spirit.
Luanne Claudia is survived by her children; Sue Sultze and Tom Pasma of Bow, Washington, Tom and Julie Sultze of Everett, Washington, Laura Lu Sultze and Steve Gerson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Kimberly Sultze and Jon Hyde of Colchester, Vermont; her grandchildren, Tyler and Alyssa Sultze of Louisville, Kentucky, Amy Krakauer of Charlotte, North Carolina, Tanner and Valinda Sultze of Everett, Washington, Max and Julia Krakauer of Racine, Wisconsin, and Sam Krakauer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her great-grandchildren, Christian, Evangeline, and Beckett Sultze and Wade, Calvin, and Wren Sultze. She was preceded in death by her husband Rolland Fred Sultze, Jr.; her siblings, Ruth Bednar and Howard ‘Hap’ Preston, and by her parents, Claude and Elizabeth Preston.
There will be a ceremony celebrating Luanne Claudia’s life at Lemley Funeral Chapel, 1008 Third Street, Sedro-Woolley on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 10:00 am.

I am so sorry to have read of your loss; please accept my sincere condolences. Something that I have personally found to be of great comfort are the thoughts expressed at John 5:28, 29 as well as Revelation 21:4. In these verses we find a wonderful hope for the future of being reunited with our loved ones upon the earth the way it was originally intended–free from sickness, suffering, and even death.
