Mae Parker, who celebrated her 100th birthday on April 5th of this year, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at her home in Sedro-Woolley.
She was born April 5, 1906 in Kent, Washington on her Grandfather Green’s homestead. Mae is the 4th of 11 children to George and Bertha Lancaster Green. At the age of 1, Mae moved to Conway and then moved to Clear Lake at the age of 8 where she was able to live the rest of her childhood years.
Mae then married Robert Parker in 1935 in Everett, WA where they found a home together in Sedro-Woolley where she has lived for the past sixty years. Together, they owned Parkers Dependable Grocery Store for 35 years. Mae belonged to St. James Episcopal Church of Sedro-Woolley where she was a beloved member, helping with establishing the church, and touching many hearts and lives throughout her years. Mae also was an active member of the Sedro-Woolley Alumni Association.
At this time, the following have preceded her in death; George and Bertha Lancaster Green parents, Robert Parker husband. Brothers; Raymond, Milton, Edward, Lewis, Kinney, and Harvey. Sisters; Leonora, Lucy, Lucille and Lavinia.
She is survived by her nephews, Hal Snow of Sedro-Woolley and Gary Snow of Coupeville and a niece, Jacquie Guedel of Bellevue. A great nephew, Jeff Guedel of Seattle and great nieces, Renea Snow and Gail Kononen of Sedro-Woolley, and Traci Miller of Seattle. A great, great niece, Rylan Kononen of Sedro-Woolley. With many close, extended family and friends living throughout the West Coast, reaching from Washington to Texas including; Patricia Bratton step-daughter, Raymond and Donald Green, Mr. and Mrs. Jean Brower, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Brower, Jerean Singer, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Green, Patty Green The Snell Family, and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Humble all nephews and nieces.
Our family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to Skagit Valley Hospice and St. James Episcopal Church for their wonderful care, compassion, and support. Mae Parker will be dearly missed and will always be remembered and loved.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 1:00PM at St. James Episcopal Church in Sedro-Woolley with The Reverend Vicki Wesen and Rilla Barrett officiating with interment to follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. James Episcopal Church or the SWHS Alumni Association. Visitation will be Friday, May 12th from 9AM to 5PM and 7PM to 8PM at Lemley Chapel.
