Marlin W. Miller, age 94, a lifetime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, Washington. He was born November 29, 1913 in Bellville, Washington to George and Mattie Mae Elliot Miller.
Marlin grew up in Sedro-Woolley spending his early years attending McRae School and later graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1932. He worked as a logger and trapper and he later attended Mount Vernon Business College.
On April 16, 1938, he was married to Jessie Nelson and that same year he became partners with Fred Boede operating Valley Dairy until 1958. Marlin then began his long career selling real estate working for Bingham Investment and Al Doorn to age 80.
Marlin enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his brother Howard, gardening and traveling. He was an active member of the Valley Baptist Church and formally belonged to the Oddfellows Lodge.
Marlin is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Jessie Miller of Sedro-Woolley. Two daughters, Charlotte Dykstra and her husband Henry of Burlington and Joyce Muzzall and her husband Hugh of Walla Walla. Five grandchildren; Eric Dykstra and his wife Randi, Chris Sullivan and her husband Kelly, Amy Rygmyr and her husband Adym and Marie Hawkins and her husband Ron, David Muzzall; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Frances Miller.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 11:00AM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with a Memorial Celebration of Life Service to follow at 12:00PM at Valley Baptist Church in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Michael Smith officiating. A reception will follow the services at the church. Visitation will be available Saturday, Oct 11th from 9AM to 5PM, Sunday Oct 12th by appointment, and Monday Oct 13th up to 10AM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Memorials are suggested to Valley Baptist Church 710 John Liner Rd Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.
