MAX H. ‘SKIP’ SHELMAN, 55, a Sedro-Woolley area resident passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 27, 2006.
Skip was born on February 5, 1951 in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, the son of Max A. & Marie G. English Shelman.
Skip was raised and attended school in North Hollywood, California and after completing his education joined the U.S. Army for 3 years during the Viet Nam Conflict. After his discharge he returned to California where he worked as a warehouseman and a mechanic until coming to Skagit County in 1991. He worked as a security officer and then served as head of security at the Cascade Mall in Burlington until 1999. He currently was employed with Timeless Designs of Arlington as an office partition installer. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
On February 14, 1999 he was united in marriage to Marla Willey in Burlington and they have made their home in Sedro-Woolley.
Skip is survived by his wife, Marla at the family home. His son, Jacob T. Shelman of Sedro-Woolley. 2 step-children, Russell & Alyssa Willey of Renton. His parents, Max & Marie Shelman of Sedro-Woolley. 3 brothers, Matt Shelman of Mount Vernon, Mark Shelman of California and Martin Shelman and his wife, Kim of Camano Island.
2 sisters, Marie Grard of Mount Vernon and Marge Lewinski and her husband, Bob of Tonasket, WA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside inurnment services with military honors will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
