Myra C. Benton, age 88, a lifetime resident of Rockport, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA. She was born May 31, 1919 in Burlington, WA, the daughter of William and Rona Clark Pressentin.
Myra grew up in Rockport where she attended school and she graduated from Concrete High School.
She then resided in Seattle to attend Beauty School and later operated her own beauty salon and met her future husband Merl Benton. They were married on October 4, 1942 in Seattle.
In 1948 they returned to Rockport where they owned and operated the Rockport Country Store until 1978.
Myra was a member of the Cyrene Chapter #110, Order of Eastern Star and she enjoyed gardening and being with friends and family. She will be remembered for her ability of helping and being there for people.
She is survived by her sons, Tom Benton and his wife, Betty of Edwall, WA and Abb Benton and his wife, Rebecca of Tacoma, WA. 4 grandchildren, Tim, Mike, Dan and Christy Benton and 2 great-grandchildren, Hunter Martin Benton and Michael Herrara. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Merl in October of 2005.
Funeral Services will be Monday, July 9, 2007 at 2:00PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Bruce Martin of the Concrete Assembly of God and members of Eastern Star officiating. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Rockport Union Sunday School.
