Nancy Arlene Gronemyer, 70, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born on May 9, 1937 in Sedro-Woolley, the daughter of Garvin & Mary Wade.
Nancy grew up in Clear Lake where her family operated a grocery store/gas station and there she attended grade school. She attended high school in Sedro-Woolley, graduating with the class of 1955.
She was united in marriage to John Gronemyer on May 21, 1955 in Sedro-Woolley and in the fall of that year she enrolled in the nursing program at Skagit Valley College where she earned a Nursing Degree.
Nancy worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Northern State Hospital in Sedro-Woolley for 15 years until its closure in 1972, after which she devoted her time to her family being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Nancy has been a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sedro-Woolley for nearly 50 years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club and of the Classic Outlaws Car Club of Lyman. She was an accomplished painter and also enjoyed crafts and ceramics.
She enjoyed snow birding in California because she loved the warm weather and the desert where she would ride dune buggies and sand rails.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 52 years, John, at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Two daughters and sons-in-law, Teri & Roy Bever of Sedro-Woolley and Sandy & Greg Godfrey of Willis, TX. Two sons, Rick Gronemyer of San Diego, CA and Russell Gronemyer and his wife, Bonnie of Sedro-Woolley. 5 grandchildren, Aaron & Patrick Bever, Dusty & Krista Kindred and R. J. Gronemyer. A sister, Lorraine Wildfang and her husband, John of California City, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garvin & Mary.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 16, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Walt Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Lawn Memorial Park in Mount Vernon. Memorials are suggested to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation is available at and services under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
