Neil Duane Taylor, 53, a longtime Marblemount area resident, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 11, 2008 surrounded by his loving family.
Neil was born on March 19, 1955 in Arcata, California, the son of Gary & Sandra Morris Taylor.
For a while Neil was raised and attended school in Blue Lake, CA and then over the course of several years was raised in both Reno, Nevada and Kansas City, Missouri.
In the late 1970’s Neil made his home in the Bothell, WA area where he worked for a rockery business building retention walls and laying landscaping rocks and then in grounds maintenance for the King County Parks Department.
Neil also operated a hydroblasting business where he would clean boats, tugs and buildings with high pressure water.
In May of 1987 Neil was united in marriage to Suzanne Ferguson in Sacramento, CA and they moved to and made their home in Concrete in 1988, moving to Marblemount in 1993. Since moving to Skagit County in 1988 Neil has worked in the timber industry and operated his own logging business for several years.
He was a caring and sensitive man who loved being with his family and friends.
Neil was also very active in his community, coaching baseball and basketball teams with the Skagit County Parks and Recreation. He also enjoyed listening to music, particularly Jazz and working around and doing improvements to his home.
Neil is survived by his wife, Suzanne and two daughters, Kassaundra and Sophia at the family home in Marblemount and his son, Lukas of Bellingham. His mother, Sandra Perry of Bellingham and his father, Gary Taylor of Kansas City, MO. 2 sisters, Jayme Fergoda of Bellingham and Debbie Lehman of Kearney, MO. 2 brothers, Norman Taylor of Lathrop, MO and Greg Taylor of Gladstone, MO. His paternal grandmother, Viola Taylor of Blue Lake, CA. A nephew, Neil Taylor his namesake and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, George Taylor; maternal grandparents, John Morris and Pat Morris-Billings and step-father, Ray Brejska.
A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Marblemount Assembly of God Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Neil Taylor Athletic Scholarship Fund c/o any branch of Summit Bank.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
