Nona Mae Allan, 79, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2006 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Nona was born on December 17, 1927 in Sutherland, Nebraska, the daughter of Vance & Katie Humphry Vanarsdall, and she was raised and attended school in Corvalis & Portland, Oregon.
On May 22, 1948 she was united in marriage to Larry B. Allan in Corvalis, Oregon and they made their home in Tucson, Arizona, where they began their family.
When they moved to Washington, Nona worked as a librarian for a few years in Monroe and then worked as a scheduler for several years in the Bremerton and Keyport area.
They settled in Sedro-Woolley in 1996 and for the past year she attended the Trinity United Presbyterian Church.
Nona loved her family, and especially enjoyed watching her granddaughter play sports and in taking care of her great-granddaughter. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, reading, baking cookies and her beloved pets. She had lots of family and friends and liked just to sit down and talk with them. She will be missed enormously by them all.
Nona is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry, at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine & John Denman of Snohomish and Carol & Lonnie Bennett of Mount Vernon. Two granddaughters, Christen Casalou and her husband, Darwin of Alger and Alyse Crider of Mount Vernon. A great-granddaughter, Kailyn Casalou and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Aaliyah & Nevan Casalou. One sister, Patricia Lordos and her husband, William of Scappoose, Oregon; One brother-in-law, David Allan and his wife, Ann of Placerville, CA and several nieces and nephews.
The family request memorials be sent to Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 10217 Collins Road, Sedro-Woolley.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Wendy Tingley officiating.
Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
