Paul W. Entrikin, age 86, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 23, 2007 at his home in Sedro Woolley, with his family at his side.
He was born on March 29, 1920 in Abilene, Kansas, the son of George and Verlie Mae Jewell Entrikin.
Paul was raised in Kansas until moving out West with his family at age 9 and finally settling in Sedro Woolley. He graduated from Sedro Woolley High School in 1938 and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Paul was married to Merle M. Stanley on September 4, 1942 in Sedro Woolley. They have celebrated 64 years of marriage together.
He worked as a machinist at Skagit Steel in Sedro Woolley and later at Shell Oil Refinery in Anacortes, retiring in 1981. Paul was a member of Cascade Christian Church in Sedro Woolley and was a former Deacon for the church. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and was involved with coaching Little League for many years. He was an avid local sports fan and often attended high school games. He loyally followed the various sporting events of his kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews and their kids in both Sedro Woolley and Burlington school districts.
He is survived by his wife, Merle M. Entrikin; his son, Bruce Entrikin and his wife, Cathy of Bow, and his daughter, Patty Creelman and her husband Paul of Burlington. Five grandchildren, Heidi Lammers and her husband, D.J., Teresa and Ben Creelman, Brett Entrikin and his wife, Carrie, and Todd Entrikin. His sister, Irene Ingham and her husband, Lloyd of Kent, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Eugene and sister, Lucille Henderson.
Paul was a warm focal point of ‘high-five’ hellos for all who met him. A model husband, father, grandfather and sportsman, he left his imprint of impeccable integrity, kindness and encouragement on everyone. Whether cheering at high school sports events or watching sunsets with his wife, he embraced life to its fullest. Thanks dad, grandpa, Paul, coach, for all the memories ‘ we miss you.
The family would like to especially thank Hospice for their wonderful care and support, assisting us through difficult times.
A private Graveside Service will be held at the Burlington Cemetery, followed by a public Memorial Service on Monday, March 26, 2007, at the Allen United Methodist Church in Bow 16775 Allen West Road at 2:00 PM. Pastor John Douglas of the Anacortes Christian Church will be officiating.
