Raymond H. Hilt, 99, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on August 21, 2017 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Ray was born on November 7, 1917 in Presque Isle, Maine, the youngest of six children of Frank & Lillian Hilt. He was raised and attained his education in Presque Isle. Ray’s father, Frank, was the last working sleigh/carriage blacksmith in Presque Isle.

In 1942 Ray enlisted into the U.S. Army where served his country during WW II.
On February 19, 1944 Ray was united in marriage to Bette Vandeman in Seattle and after his discharge he returned there and attended the University of Washington where he earned an accounting degree.
Ray worked as an accountant for the I.R.S. for a while then went to work as an accountant for Boeing where both Ray and Bette worked in the finance department for many years. They made their home in the Magnolia area of Seattle until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 2004.

Ray is survived by his son, Greg; numerous nieces & nephews; grand nieces & nephews; cousin Buster Hilt and good friend, Wendy Sebastian. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; three brothers and in 2011 by his wife Bette.

A Graveside inurnment service will be held at the Greenhills Cemetery in Burlington on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. Please share memories of Ray and sign the online guest register.
