Robert ‘Bruce’ Outland, age 63, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007 at his home in Sedro-Woolley, WA. He was born January 6, 1944 in Walla Walla, WA, the son of Donald and Arlys McNichols Outland.
Bruce grew up in Walla Walla attending school and graduated Walla Walla High School in 1961. After graduation, he joined the US Marines serving 6 years. He served in Japan, Philippines, Okinawa, and the Bay of Pigs. His M.O.S. was as motor transport, explosive ordinance disposal E.OD. technican and served in the Marine Corp Air Wing. After his service time, he worked as a freight driver for many years until he was disabled. Bruce resided in New Mexico and San Diego, CA for many years until coming to Sedro-Woolley 14 years ago. He was married to Patricia M. Garcia in 1966 in San Diego, CA and she preceded him in death. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and he was a member of the American Legion and the Teamsters.
Bruce is survived by his brother Ken Outland and his wife, April of Anacortes and cousins, Adrienne and Janet and nephews, Jeff and Marc, nieces, Lou Ann and Donna.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Rick Miles of the Day Creek Chapel officiating with Military Honors to follow. Interment will be the following Monday at the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla, WA. Visitation is available on Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 9:00AM to 1:00PM.
