Shirley Anne Richter, 82, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, entered eternal peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, June 8, 2015, surrounded by her family.   Shirley was born on April 21, 1933 in Adel, Iowa, the daughter of William & Mabel (Melton) Swihart. The family moved to Skagit County in the late 1930’s, settling in the Utopia area east of Sedro-Woolley where Shirley attended grade school. She then attended and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1951.     On July 23, 1955 she was united in marriage to William Richter in Burlington and they made their home there and in SRichter, Shirley youngedro-Woolley.

For those first several years Shirley was a devoted wife and mother. She then began working for the Washington State Housing Authority and then a volunteer for the Helping Hands Food Bank eventually becoming their director of operations, a job she enjoyed for over 20 years. She also helped out at Thompson’s Nursery where she loved the flowers and trees.  Shirley was an accomplished artist, creating beautiful oil paintings and ceramics. For  many years she operated the Hen House Ceramics Shop in Sedro-Woolley.  But her greatest devotion was to her God and her church. She was a longtime and devoted member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Sedro-Woolley.

Shirley leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her children, Crystal Osborne and her husband Robert, Kenneth Sauers, and Rick Richter and his wife Audrey, all of Sedro-Woolley; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Richter of Conway; 6 grandchildren, Katrina Powell, Jason Osborne (Jamie), Rosalie Coray (Josh), Rachel Thompson (Jesse), and Robin & Rylie Richter; 18 great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Chance, Kjellan, Dahlton, Kheairah, Aubrey, Dyllan, Jasmine, Natalie, Josie, Jaylie, Caliope, Atticus, Ava, Jack, Henry, Evelyn and Jenaya and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Ashlyn; a brother, Lee Swihart and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Bill; loving son Billy; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Billy Farrar officiating.

Shirley & Bill used to have coffee once a week with my Dad (Gary) before my Dad passed away years ago. I used to manage the Burlington McDonalds they used to come there to meet up before I left. When I went to work for my new job they left there and went to the SW one because Shirley said it wasn’t the same without me. Shirley was such a wonderful lady and both her and Bill were great friends to my Dad. She will be greatly missed. God Bless all of you.
