Stanley F. ‘Buck’ Morgan, 77, a former Everett resident, passed away at his home in Day Creek, WA in Skagit County on Sunday, August 6, 2006.
He was born on March 31, 1929 in Day Creek, WA, one of nine children of Floyd & Iva Hart Morgan.
Buck attended grade school in Day Creek and Clear Lake and high school in Sedro-Woolley where he graduated with the class of 1947.
He then moved to California where he worked in the timber industry for a few years until serving his country in the U.S. Army during Korean Conflict.
Buck was united in marriage to Betty Estes at the Morgan family home in Day Creek on April 26, 1952 and after his discharge in 1953, they made their home in Day Creek where he again worked in the timber industry.
In 1956 they moved to Monroe, WA where he was a member of the Monroe Fire Department for 16 years, and where he worked as a truck driver for the Standard Oil distributorship; he purchased the business in 1970. In 1971 he moved to Everett, re-opening the Everett Chevron USA office and expanded the distribution area to cover all of Snohomish County. He retired in 1979. He and Betty then moved to Whidbey Island where they made their home until 1993 when they returned to Day Creek.
He delighted neighbors by hanging tens of thousands of Christmas lights every year. He would start hanging lights in October so they would be ready by the day after Thanksgiving. During the holiday season, people would travel from miles around to see his displays. Streams of cars would drive slowly by to enjoy them. Buck also enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, watching and feeding the local birds and tending to his vegetable garden.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
