Sylvia Holm, 83, of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at Life Care Center on the evening of August 9, 2015.

She was born to Simon and Mamie (McKenzie) Miller on December 30, 1931 in Alpha, WA, the youngest of ten children.  In her late teens, she came to stay with her sister in Skagit County where she met and married Clinton Holm in 1948.  She enjoyed a very warm and close relationship with her parents-in-law, building a home next door as well as working in the berry fields with them while raising her children.

She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing most of the family’s clothing; later working in clothing production and for Bunnies by the Bay in Anacortes.  She also worked as a cook at a nursing home and at Skagit County Juvenile Detention.

Sylvia and Clint enjoyed fishing and hunting trips with family and friends, both locally and into Canada.  She enjoyed family get-togethers, playing cards, crocheting, knitting and was a great burner of brush piles (that is a story to be told).

Sylvia is survived by her children, Linda Brown, Stanwood, Doug Holm (Riela), Oregon, David Holm, Sedro-Woolley; grandchildren, Cynthia Neumiller Grenier, Lyman; Michael Neumiller (LaVonna), Illinois; Gary Hale (Tammy), Mount Vernon; Eric Hale, Everett; Travis Holm, California; Jessyca Williams, California and Tony & Andy Holm, Onalaska, and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clint; her significant other Mel Milholland; all of her brothers and sisters and many in-laws.

A Life Celebration will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2015 starting at noon, at granddaughter Cindy Grenier’s home at 32728 Hamilton Cemetery Rd.  We will provide hamburgers and hot dogs.  Please bring a side dish or dessert.  For info call 360-661-6154.  Special thanks to the staff at Life Care for caring for Mom and for caring ABOUT her.
