V. Carol Pederson, 73, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
Carol was born on December 7, 1934 in Wenatchee, Washington, the daughter of Charlie & Goldie Handy Ellis.
In 1941when Carol was five years of age her family moved to Acme, Washington and she attended grade school in Acme and then Mount Baker High School.
Carol married John Birchall and from that marriage her son, Mark was born.
She later married Tom Dawson, and they were married for several years until his death. She then married Carl Duling and he too preceded her in death.
Carol had worked at several jobs over the years; she tended bar at the Castle, Deming and Ranch Taverns and was a waitress at the Gateway and Liberty Bell restaurants in Sedro-Woolley. She also worked at the Mount Vernon Veterinary Hospital caring for animals and doing office work until becoming ‘the office staff’ for G & K Construction.
In 2000 Carol married Robert Pederson and they made Sedro-Woolley their home base when they traveled to Alaska, Yellowstone Park, the South Dakota badlands, Arizona, Nashville Tenn. and most of the western U.S. They even found time to go to Baker Lake where they loved to go fishing. Carol also enjoyed gardening and she loved to knit and crochet; she would make stocking caps all year long and donate them to the Helping Hands Food Bank to go in the Christmas boxes.
Carol is survived by her husband, Robert at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Her step-children; Gary Duling and his wife, Pam, Brian Pederson, Brad Pederson and his wife, Melissa, Judy Maxey and her husband, Bill, Tina DeVoll and her husband, William and Tammy Harvey. Also numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mark Birchall; her husbands, Tom Dawson and Carl ‘Buzz’ Duling and a brother, Frank ‘Butch’ Ellis.
Memorials are suggested to North Puget Oncology at United General Hospital.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Saxon Cemetery near Acme with Pastor Don Thorndike of the Little Brown Chapel officiating. A pot luck ‘party, no mourners’, in Carol’s words, will follow at the Little Brown Chapel in Wickersham.
