Violet Polly Mae Dillard, age 65, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007 at the Regional Hospital in Seattle, WA. She was born May 10, 1941 in Jackson County, NC, the daughter of Guy and Marie Reece Carpenter.
Violet moved to Skagit County in 1951 with her parents and was raised in the upper Valley attending schools in Hamilton and Concrete. She graduated from Concrete High School in 1959.
Violet met James Dillard and they were united in marriage at the Hamilton Baptist Church on February 14, 1959. Jim and Violet lived most of their lives in the Skagit Valley except for a short period of time while Jim attended Liberty Baptist College in Virginia and when he served with the US Army.
Violet loved family and especially children and was a foster mother for many years. She would baby sit for anyone who needed the help and never would ask for anything in return, except for you to stop by and visit her. Violet loved to go garage selling, watch WWF wrestling, and during her younger years, roller skating with her husband Jim. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Burlington and her biggest love was for the Lord.
