William ‘Bill’ Bicknell

Thursday, October 8th, 2015

William ‘Bill’ Bicknell, 62, of Day Creek passed away at his home unexpectedly in the early morning hours on Friday, October 2, 2015.

Bill was born on May 23, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio. The son of Col. J.E. and Olivette (Killough) Bicknell, he and his brothers Robert and Timothy along with a sister Barbara grew up living the life of a military family. Moving from place to place as their father fulfilled his duties as a Colonel in the USAF,  living places such as the Philippines, Japan, and all over the United States.

He found pleasure in the outdoors, becoming an Eagle Scout as a youth. He also found satisfaction in music and loved to play the guitar to old country tunes and bluegrass. These passions stayed throughout his life, and he often shared them with his children, family, and friends.

After attending college at Arizona State University, Bill found his way to Washington where he developed a great love for the ocean, working on fishing boats between there and Alaska. He continued to work as a pipefitter in Alaska once his fishing days were over. He lived the life of an Alaskan pipefitter, working hard and playing hard, but all the while keeping his promise to raise his children in one place for them to call home. Throughout the trials of his life one thing is agreed upon by those who knew him best, and that was that Bill was an exceptionally generous man who would offer anything he could at any given time to help those around him. He truly believed in selflessly helping others and had one of the biggest hearts in doing so, only wanting mutual respect as payback. He was loved unconditionally by his family and will be missed immensely.

Bill is survived by his girlfriend, Kim Maynard; sons, Justin Bicknell of Sedro-Woolley, William Francis of Federal Way; grandchildren, Juliiana, Amelia, Phineas; brother, Tim Bicknell; niece, Sara Bicknell; and nephew, Bob Bicknell. In addition to his immediate family, the list of people he welcomed as family and that welcomed him as the same is simply too long….

He is preceded in death by his parents June and Olivette; brother, Bob; sister, Barbara.

May he be together with them once again and finally forever rest in peace … So one final time “Love you, Bye!”

I was so sad to read of Bill’s passing after finding several old photos of Bill & those little blonde boys with those amazing eyes over the past few years. I wish I was able to share them here. Rest in peace, Bill.

Sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. During much of Bill’s career as a pipefitter we at Industrial Resources had the good fortune to have Bill’s help. Bill was a friend and a highly respected member of our team. He will be missed. RIP Bill.
