William Craddock Hunter, 85, a longtime Clear Lake resident, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 7, 2006.
He was born on January 25, 1921 in Coupeville, WA, the son of Enoch L. & Helen Craddock Hunter.
He was raised and attended school in several states until settling in Rochester, WA where he graduated from high school in 1939.
In 1940 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country during WW II.
He was united in marriage to Eldora Meade in Riverside, CA. in January of 1944 and she made her home there until Bill’s discharge in November of 1945. They moved to Clear Lake, WA around 1950 where together they have since made their home.
Bill was an electrician and radio & TV repairman for many years. He operated an appliance repair shop in Sedro-Woolley and also worked as an electrician for Skagit Steel.
He was a Ham Radio Operator and member of the Ham Radio Operators Association. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, reading and sailing around Puget Sound. He was also a longtime member of the Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eldora, at the family home in Clear Lake. His children, David & Carlene Hunter. 1 sister, Phyllis Boston of Clear Lake; 3 nieces, Margaret Boston, Betty Windish and Nancy Brier; 3 nephews, Bill, Don & Charles Boston; 2 cousins, Eleanor Rivers and Marilyn Sadowski and numerous extended family and friends.
The family wishes to thank Skagit Hospice for their care and assistance during Bill’s final days.
They also suggest memorials be made to the Community Covenant Church Food Bank.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 11:00 am with military honors at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville followed by a Life Celebration at the Community Covenant Church in Clear Lake at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Tim Hedberg officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
