William Robert ‘Bill’ McKinley, 59, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 27, 2008.
He was born on May 18, 1948 in Kellogg, Idaho, the son of Roy & Bette Porter McKinley.
Bill was raised and attended school in Kellogg and from there graduated from Kellogg High School with the class of 1966, after which he served his country in the U.S. Navy.
In 1973 Bill returned to Kellogg, Idaho where he worked as a mechanic and lead foreman for the Bunker Hill Mining Co. In 1982 he moved to Priest River, Idaho where he began a long career in the timber industry beginning with Diamond International as head of maintenance, then in 1990 began working for WTD as a general manager in Sedro-Woolley from 1993 to 1996. He also worked for several other timber operations around the Northwest until his retirement in November of 2007.
Bill was united in marriage to Lagina Huscusson in Sedro-Woolley on April 8, 1995.
Bill enjoyed riding his 4 wheel ATV, hunting and fishing, trap shooting and working on his ’66 GTO.
He is survived by his wife, Lagina and their son, Konnor at the family home in Sedro-Woolley.
His daughter, Brenda Dawson and her husband, Les of Boise, Idaho. Son, Jeff McKinley and his wife, Krystal of Wilsonville, Oregon. Three grandchildren, Megan & Michael Dawson and Emma McKinley. Two brothers, Tom McKinley and his wife, Linda of Kellogg, Idaho and Richard McKinley and his wife, Kris of Wasilla, Alaska. An aunt, Alwen Killiman of Kellogg, Idaho. His mother-in-law, Mary Melton of Sedro-Woolley and his father-in-law, Calvin Huscusson of Lyman. Sister-in-law, Debra York; son-in-law, Ray Hamilton; niece, Nicole Apple, nephews, Cody Apple and Dakota Hemphill and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Bette McKinley.
Memorials are suggested to the SVH Regional Cancer Care Center, 307 South 13, Suite 100, Mount Vernon, 98274.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley.
Cremation arrangements and services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
