Wilma D. Bergstedt

Sunday, March 23rd, 2014

Wilma D. Bergstedt, age 90, a lifelong resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.

She was born on August 8, 1923 in Marcola, Oregon, the daughter of William & Mildred (Stratton) Brown. The family moved to Sedro-Woolley when Wilma was an infant and she was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley.

In 1940 Wilma was united in marriage to Neconer “Con” Bergstedt in Mount Vernon and together they made their home and raised their family in Sedro-Woolley.

Wilma, who was affectionately known as “Trix” by some of her family, was one who took pride in her home and her yard and had a variety of beautiful flowers that she grew, and could tell you name of each one.  She also tended to a large vegetable garden until she was no longer able to work outside.  She enjoyed canning, baking and made an awesome potato salad.   She adored her grandchildren and when her only great-grandson, Conner, would visit he was the light of her life.

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Mitchell and her husband Gary of Deer Park, WA; son-in-law, James Williams (Katheryn, dec) of Mount Vernon her grandchildren, Rachael Aritchita (Michael) of Watsonville, CA and Brian Mitchell of Wenatchee, WA; her great-grandson, Conner Aritchita; her sister, Dorothy Harding Stover of Sedro-Woolley and 2 brothers, Ken Brown (Iris) and Howard Brown (Shirley) of Burlington; sister-in-law, Phyllis Bergstedt of Sedro-Woolley; numerous nieces and nephews and her childhood friend, Doreen Brown of Mount Vernon.   She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Carl in 1963; husband, Neconer in 1987; sister, Marie Palmer in 1996 and her daughter, Katheryn Williams in 2003.

Graveside services will be held at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Rachael Wangen-Hock officiating. A Life Celebration gathering and lite lunch will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 11:30 A.M. at Sedro-Woolley Community Center.
