Beverly Van Slageren, a mother of 5 children and grandmother of many, passed into Jesus’ arms on the evening of October 26, 2024. It was a blessing that many of her loved ones were able to come and say their goodbyes. She recently celebrated her 95th birthday, we are so grateful for her long life and for her peaceful passing.
Beverly was born and raised in Clear Lake, WA and graduated from Sedro-Woolley high school. She married William Van Slageren in 1956 also in Clear Lake. After several years of married life they purchased a home in Clear Lake where they raised their 5 children. To say she was a devoted mother, and wife would be an understatement. Her children Barbara, Beverly, Dirk, Bill and Lizbeth often recount stories about how Mom would pick up supplies for crazy forts (that she even let them nail onto the house!), 4-H and fair projects, gardening and canning, and so much more. She could make her dollar stretch when she needed to, but they never lacked for anything. Beverly was not a quitter, and she taught her kids the tenacity necessary to succeed in life as a marriage partner, parent, and Christian. She was unswerving in her love for her family. We are so grateful for her example.
As Beverly’s health started to decline, she moved in with her daughter, Beverly, which meant moving from Clear Lake to Grandview, WA. She lived with her daughter for about 8 years.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Jim) Boze, Beverly (John) Koopmans, Dirk (Carol) Van Slageren, Bill (Remi) Van Slageren, Lizbeth (Mark) Wentz; she was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren with number 23 on the way.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Van Slageren.
Beverly was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Mount Vernon, WA for 68 years. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Mount Vernon Christian School or Sunnyside Christian School.
Graveside services will be held in her hometown at Clear Lake Cemetery on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 2:00 pm. There will be a time of fellowship following the graveside service at the Clear Lake Historical Association building right next to the Post Office. Dear Bev and Barb,
Bless you and your family! Your mom and dad raised beautiful children! So many good memories of you both at SWHS! May You feel the embrace of God our Father as you deal with losing your wonderful mom!
Dear Van Slageren Family,
My sincere sympathy. Your family was and is a wonderful family and your mom made the best crème puffs! I will never forget her or your dad. Being involved with Willy and his fishing boat and just the uniqueness of your family will never be forgotten. May you be blessed with your wonderful memories of your mom and the wonderful things she did. I know I will never forget her.
Bless you all!
Denise Allen Anderson.
I was the secretary at Clear Lake and knew your mom and enjoyed our visits. She was a great Mom who loved her kids.
Dear Barbara and Beverly and family: I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. May the good Lord wrap his loving arms around all of you during this time and ease your pain.
God bless you all.
