Agnes Stransky

Monday, December 20th, 2021

Agnes McDougle, Stransky 97 passed away peacefully on December 20, 2021, at her home in Sedro Woolley Washington with family at her side, Agnes was born July 21, 1924, in Deming WA. To parents Ernest Peterson and Alvina (Solene) Peterson both with full Swedish heritage that she was always very proud of.

Agnes grew up in Deming WA. in a two-bedroom house with Ten siblings

Harley, Helen, Alice, Arley, Glen, Carl, Fred, Dorothey, Clarence and Margaret (Thompson) Harrison. Along with two young nieces Jo and Carlene (Harrison).  Then in 1939 the family moved to Bellingham

She married Edward McDougle in Bellingham in 1941 where they had 5 children Bonnie Hooper, Lyle McDougle (Deanna), Janie McDougle, Diana Reger, Janet Joy (Mike), and in 1958 they moved to Sedro Woolley and had one more daughter Gayle Poole.  The family grew adding 13 grandchildren, Kevin, Tracey, Samantha, Chris, Jamie, Janie, Jennifer, Jeff, Leah, Erin, Kimberly, Tara & Melissa. 27 Great grandchildren, and 12 Great-Great grandchildren and one more on the way!

Agnes always kept busy. She loved babysitting for young families.  She loved sewing, baking, and decorating cakes.  She made numerous wedding cakes for family and friends.

Agnes was a member of the Grace Cochran Orthopedic for over 50 years where she made lifelong friends.  She loved to travel the Oregon coast, a Cruise to Alaska, a trip to Disneyland with her grown children, or visit family in California & Oregon. The crazy road trips with her four daughters where they would uncontrollably laugh over the dumbest things. Our trips were the best and will never be forgotten.  Her most favorite thing was large family gatherings at her house for every holiday and Birthdays. She enjoyed going to bingo and playing at casinos. In Agnes’s 97 years she has seen so many changes in her lifetime.

After Ed McDougle passed in 1985, Agnes remarried Alfred Stransky in 1988 and enjoyed traveling and wood working with Fritz (Alfred).

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings, two close niece’s husbands Ed and Alfred, two daughters Janie (infant) and Gayle Poole, and one great granddaughter Emma Woolsey.  She was one of the last generations and said the hardest part of living so long was losing so many of her dear friends and relatives.  In Agnes’s 97 years she lived a full life being a wonderful mother and positive inspiration to her family.  She will be truly missed by many.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Lemley Chapel in Sedro Woolley, followed by a graveside service at 2:00, at Green Acres Cemetery in Ferndale, WA.  Share your memories of Agnes and sign the online guest register.
