Alonzo J. LaFlame, Jr. 1938-2004
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alonzo Joseph LaFlame, Jr. Beloved father, brother, grandfather, and uncle; great friend, Master Mason, and devoted police officer.
Al died at home in Sedro-Woolley, WA, on December 29, 2004 after a struggle with cancer.
He was born on March 11, 1938 in Milwaukee, WI, to Alonzo J. LaFlame, Sr. and Jeannette Guilbault LaFlame. ‘Lonnie’ developed a lifelong love of the Green Bay Packers. After graduating high school in 1956, he served his country as an Army military police officer from 1958-1961. A great believer in serving the public, Al joined the Arcadia Police Department in Arcadia, CA, in 1962, where he had many cherished friends and fishing buddies, serving 29 years until his retirement in 1991. Al married Patricia Ottevaere in 1967 and they proudly raised their two daughters. Though later divorced, they remained good friends and Pat relocated to Sedro-Woolley to care for Al in his final months’an act for which he wished to express his deepest gratitude. Al never liked too much fuss made over him and so there will be no memorial service, however cards to the family may be sent to P.O. Box 215, Clearlake, WA, 98235. The family suggests memorials be to the Arcadia Police Dept. Widows and Orphans Fund.
Al is survived by daughters, Lisa LaFlame and her husband, Iain Cowie, of Houston, TX and Cynthia Justice and her husband, Chris, and two grandchildren, Brooke and Brady, all of Sierra Madre, CA; 2 sisters, Mary Janice Boyd Proctor and her husband, Boyd ‘Red’ Proctor, of Sedro-Woolley, WA and Yvonne Marie Jones of Bakersfield, CA; nephew Robert R. Jones and his wife, Beth of Kneeland, CA; former spouse, Patricia LaFlame, of Boulder City, NV; and numerous friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.
