Angela Margaret Ridenhour, age 75, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at her home in Sedro-Woolley, Washington. She was born April 16, 1934 in Strasburg, North Dakota to Michael and Ann Erck Burgad.
Angela grew up in Strasburg where she was raised and attended school and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1952. She attended St. Alexius College in Bismarck, North Dakota, graduating in 1955 with a B.S. Degree in Nursing. After graduation, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a First Lieutenant for three years working as a registered nurse in Naval Hospitals in New Mexico and in San Diego, California. After her discharge, she resided in various communities in Southern California until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1969.
Angela worked as a registered nurse at United General Hospital from 1969 to her retirement in 1994. She was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and she enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing pinochle and cribbage, flowers, and working in her garden. She loved her little dog Daisy who was her constant companion for the past eight years, but most of all she loved her family.
During her younger years in California, she was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Her grandparents were German Russian Immigrants who settled in Strasburg, North Dakota and she also was a cousin to Lawrence Welk.
Angela is survived by her three children; Joseph L. Ridenhour and his wife, Carol of Shoreline, WA, Deborah Ann Maxwell of Burlington and Thomas Michael Ridenhour and his wife, Samantha of Katy, TX. Five grandchildren, Kimberly Elaine Ridenhour, Michael James Ridenhour, Adrienne Michelle Ridenhour, Eric Thomas Maxwell, and Aubrey Angela Ridenhour. Four sisters; Florence Roth and her husband Edward of Des Moines, IA, Viola Donaldson of Fountain Valley, CA, Agnes Burgad of Denver, CO, Patricia Nagel and her husband Peter of West Allis, WI, a brother, Michael Burgad and his wife Michelle of Scottsdale, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, James and Michael and three sisters, Bernice, Elaine and Ann.
A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 7:00PM and a Memorial Funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 1:00PM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley with Father Martin Bourke, Celebrant. A reception will follow at the church parish hall. Inurnment will be held at the St. Peter Paul Catholic Cemetery in Strasburg, North Dakota at a later date. Memorials are suggested to North Puget Oncology at United General Hospital or Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Arrangements and cremation are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
