Ann Clair “Sue” Pettit

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Ann Clair “Sue” Pettit, 78, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, unexpectedly passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 9, 2011.

She was born on September 28, 1932 in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of Clarence H. & Ann L. (McGee) Robbins.  She was raised in Seattle and attended Immaculate Conception grade school and Holy Rosary High School.

In 1952 she met Richard Pettit and they were united in marriage on June 11, 1954.  She and Richard made their home in the Ballard area of Seattle until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1991.

Sue retired from Pacific Northwest Bell.

Sue’s true love was her family and friends.  She took pride in her home, delighting in the art of all things domestic-from decorating to cooking.  She was gifted, creating breathtaking works of perfection in her handwork, embroidery, and sewing.

Before moving to Sedro Woolley she was active in several bowling leagues.

Sue is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard, at the family home; her sister, Sally Nugent and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Margaret Craig and her brother, Clarence F. Robbins.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Helping Hands Food Bank, PO Box 632, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.

A Rosary will be recited at 10:30AM with a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM on Thursday, March 17 2011 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington with Father Tom McMichael, Celebrant.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Share memories of Sue and sign the online guest register at www.lemleychapel.com

Sue was a great lady to work with–and lots of fun. She will certainly be missed by many friends and family. We had planned to come by this spring on a trip north and–now–wished we had done it sooner. Our thoughts, prayers and kindest regards are with you and your family.

Sue was responsible for my (Marlene’s) 31 years with the phone company. She hired me and was my boss for a number of years. She was a truly wonderful person, a great teacher and a caring superviser.

Over the years I heard a lot about you, Dick, and constant stories of all the nieces and nephews. I know she will be missed by many. May memories be your solace during the difficult months ahead.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

    Dick,
I’m sorry to hear of Sue passing.
Sue and I worked together at PNB for a number of years in different work groups. It was my privilege to share our last 4 years with the TIRKS group in Bell Plaza.
In ’83 when we decided to retire I remember her opening a desk drawer, removing her papers on objectives and throwing them in the waste basket-she always hated that process. I did, too.
Sue was always a very kind loving person.
Sue loved you Dick and her nieces and nephew.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Dick and the family.
