Arlecia “Jo” Moffet

Saturday, July 24th, 2021

Arlecia “Jo” Moffet, age 86, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, in Sedro-Woolley.  She was born July 13, 1935, in Sylva, North Carolina to James and Gertrude (Melton) Cope.

Arlecia moved with her mom and dad from the Smokey Mountains in North Carolina to Hamilton, Washington in 1941. They moved to Eureka, California in 1951 where Arlecia graduated from high school. After high school she began her career as an x-ray technician at a Catholic Hospital in Eureka, California. She then worked at Skagit Radiology in Mount Vernon, Washington and United General Hospital in Sedro Woolley, Washington. Her last place to work at was the Skagit Valley Medical Center which is where she retired from in 2002.

Arlecia also known as Jo, Sis, Pearly Jo, enjoyed many things in life. She loved her job and working with others. She enjoyed going for drives and pointing out (emphasis on the pointing) the scenery or describing who lived where. She liked walks down by the river picking blackberries and watching the eagle’s fly. She would never turn down a good milkshake or strawberry cheesecake blizzard. She would sit in front of the television and watch the summer Olympics and especially gymnastics. Do not talk while the Olympics are on. She could sit for hours and listen to her uncle Robert pick the banjo, play his guitar and fiddle, and sing bluegrass while Gertrude was baking her famous biscuits. But most of all she loved her two children and saw to it that they were provided for and never wanted for anything.

Jo is survived by her daughter, Tracie Burnett of Sedro-Woolley; son, Larry and his wife, Heidi Moffet of Odessa, WA; grandchildren, Brandon, Eric and Danielle Burnett, Adrian (Casey) Moffet, Charli (Jared) King and Ryan Moffet; great grandchildren, Chayce Burnett-Anderson, Payton Mata, Kyler and Kalina Burnett, Loreah  and Jayla Moffet. Jo also is survived by several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, David Manuel Cope.

The family would like to thank the people from Cross Creek Adult Family Home and a special thanks to Lindsey and Amy who loved her and treated her as though she was their mother. We appreciate everything you did for her.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00, Friday, August 6, 2021, at the Lyman Cemetery, Lyman, WA, Pastor Jim Cannon presiding.  Share your memories of Jo and sign the online guest register.
