Arthur Benjamin Rockwell a 52 year resident of Marblemount passed away Friday December 6, 2002 at his home at the age of 90 years. He was born July 21, 1912 in Duluth, Minnesota the son of Franklin and Helma Johnson Rockwell. Arthur grew up in Minnesota and moved with his parents to Seattle in 1929. During WWII he served with the Merchant Marines surviving 2 torpedo sinkings. After the war, he moved to Marblemount and worked as a heavy construction worker on the Ross and Diablo Dams. Arthur was a lifetime member of Local 302 Operating Engineers, a member of Eagles Aerie #1 in Seattle for over 50 years, Hekett Arnold #132 American Legion in Concrete, and the Puget Sound Chapter of the Merchant Marine Veterans of WWII. Arthur is survived by a sister in law Almina Rockwell of Seattle. Nephews Don Rockwell of San Diego, CA, Leonard Romano of Seattle, Dennis Mork of Federal Way and nieces Kelly Horn of Salt Lake City, UT, Vanessa Rockwell of Canada, and Merle Bellis of Ellensburg, WA. Great niece and nephew Megan and Michael Hafermann of Salt Lake City, UT. Special friends Hal and Shirley Williamson & family of Tenino, WA, Maureen Cordova & family of Albuquerque, NM, and Reg Hunter of Marblemount.
