BARBARA RAE ARNOLD PETERSEN, 65, a Concrete area resident passed away on Saturday November 2, 2002 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on January 14, 1937 in Snoqualmie Falls, WA, the daughter of Raymond E. & Maxine Stacy Arnold. As an infant she moved to Concrete, WA with her family where she was raised and attended school. Barbara was first united in marriage to Ted Haussler and they made their home in Concrete, and from that union came her children, Tim, Shawn, Chip and Stephanie. Barbara and family later moved to Diamond Bar, CA, and there she owned and operated an interior design business and then a janitorial service. She made her home in California until 1984 when she returned to the Concrete area. She had worked for many years as a waitress and bartender at Del Conti’s Restaurant in Concrete. She was married to David Petersen in Oregon and they made their home in Concrete.
Barbara loved people and animals making her home available to all. She also enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. She was a member of the Mount Baker Presbyterian Church and the Eagles Aux. in Concrete.
She is survived by her husband David at the family home in Concrete.
Her children and their spouses, Tim & Rhoda Haussler of Sedro-Woolley, Shawn Rae & Dan Hager of Camarillo, CA, Chip Haussler of Concrete and Stephanie Bertolini-Boddy and husband Jess Boddy of Everett, WA. Her mother, Maxine Arnold-Stokes of Concrete. 7 grandchildren, Charlene Rae & Nicholas Ray Haussler, Dana & Lauryn Bertolini, Vannessa Rae Howard, T.J. Haussler and wife Norma and Erin Serrano and husband Alvaro. 4 great-grandchildren, Christian & Isaac Serrano and Alan & Elizabeth Haussler. 2 sisters & brothers-in-law, Sandra & Bob Glover of Mount Vernon and Melinda & Jon Reinstra of Sedro-Woolley. 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve & Cynthia Arnold of Bothell, WA and Marvin & Joyce Mehlum of Concrete. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends a grateful thank you to Barbara’s caregivers, Denise and Kathleen and the staff at United General Hospital. They also suggest memorials be made to the Cancer Care Center at United General Hospital, 2000 Hospital Dr. Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday November 5, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete. Pastor Tom Ross of the Mount Baker Presbyterian Church officiating.
