Berta Beseda

Sunday, June 12th, 2022

Berta Beseda, age 89, of Mount Vernon, Washington, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022.  Berta was born Berta Rubenstein on July 5, 1932, in Seattle, WA and grew up on Queen Anne Hill, graduating from Queen Anne High School in 1949.

She was married twice: first to Donald King in 1951, and again in 1982 to Anton Beseda.  She and Tony celebrated their 40th anniversary just this month.

During her working years, Berta was employed at several banks in Seattle, Anacortes and Mount Vernon, with a brief stop at an Anacortes fish cannery one summer.  She later noted that working at the bank was “far less smelly”.

She loved her family and especially loved hearing about her grand and great grandkids’ exploits.

Berta is survived by her devoted husband Anton of Mount Vernon; son Stephen King (Cheryl) of Sedro-Woolley; stepdaughter, Christine Conner (Chuck) of Ferndale; step-son, Scott Beseda (Karen) of Kingston; step-son, Curt Beseda of Snohomish; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret McKrill; sister, Zeherl McKrill and stepson, Jim Beseda.

A Graveside family gathering is to be held at Forest Park Cemetery, Concrete, WA on a date to be determined.  Share your memories of Berta and sign the online guest register.

Berta was an amazing woman who loved her family and was a friend to the felines. I recall bonding over our shared love of cats whenever she would visit throughout my childhood, and I’ll never forget the twinkle in her eyes whenever she had a cat on her lap. We love you and miss you Grandma Berta!
