C. LOUISE DUVALL, 89, a longtime Samish community resident had her sunset occur on Wednesday February 19, 2003 while peacefully asleep.
Her sunrise came on February 19, 1914 in Sedro-Woolley, WA, the daughter of Joseph S. & Alice Wimmer Waters. She was raised on the family farm at Samish, where she attended grade school. She attended Sedro-Woolley High School, graduating in 1931. On March 23, 1934 she was united in marriage to Ernest Duvall in Bellingham, WA and they made their home at Samish, North of Sedro-Woolley. From 1942 to 1969 she and Ernest made their home in Roseburg, OR where she worked as a housekeeper, and being an accomplished seamstress, she altered and made clothing. From Roseburg they returned to the family farm at Samish where they made their home together until Ernest passed away in 1978. Louise was a tenacious woman who taught herself how to play the piano and finally decided to learn to drive at the age of 39. She also enjoyed growing flowers in her garden, crocheting and knitting and baking. She has been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1923.
Louise is survived by her 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Richard & Esther Duvall of Sedro-Woolley and John & Joan Duvall of Laramie, WY. 2 sisters, Genevieve Bross of Sedro-Woolley and Birda Dioinne of Marysville, WA. 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
