CALVIN COOLIDGE COOK, 76, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident passed away on Wednesday May 15, 2002 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Calvin was born on October 20, 1925 in Healdton, Oklahoma, the son of Samuel & Alta Roberts Cook. He was raised and attended school in Ardmore, OK. Calvin enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November of 1942, coming to Washington where he met the love of his life, Marvel Strode.
They were married in Mount Vernon, WA in January of 1943. In 1947 Calvin & Marvel returned to Washington, settling in Sedro-Woolley. Calvin worked as a ward attendant at Northern State Hospital and was also an orderly and an ambulance driver at Memorial and United General Hospitals in Sedro-Woolley.
When his sons were young, Calvin served as a Boy Scout Troop leader for troop 70. He was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 933 in Mount Vernon.
He is survived by his 3 sons, Thomas Cook of Sedro-Woolley, Billy Cook of Tailand and Jerry Cook of Rockport. 1 brother, Willis Cook of Lawton, OK. 10 grandchildren, Amy Tryon, Aaron, Nathan, William, Jason, Kenneth, Pat, Marvel and Jerry Cook and Thomas Cook Jr. Numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and special extended family, Larry & Barb Shuler and their children, Heather, Dustin and Raylyn.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marvel in 1977 and 3 brothers, George, Samuel and Thomas.
Memorial services will be held Saturday May 25, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Pastor Ron Schenk of the Lyman Baptist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in the Lynden Cemetery. Memorials to Children’s Hospital are suggested.
