Calvin D. Hollingsworth, age 66, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006 in Anacortes, WA. He was born Apirl 17, 1940 in Oso, WA, the son of Joseph and Sylvia Ellison Hollingsworth.
Calvin grew up in the Darrington area until moving to Skagit County in 1953. He graduated from Concrete High School and he then enlisted in the US Navy. He returned to Skagit County and worked for Skagit Steel-Bendix Corp as a hydraulic mechanic and union representative for many years. For the past 20 years, he has worked for Dakota Creek Industries in Anacortes as a pipe-fitter.
Calvin enjoyed playing softball years ago, he loved to fish and was a former member and officer of the Wildcat Steelhead Club. He was involved with various animal rescue groups and land and watershed restoration preservation projects. His favorite times were spent with family and coworkers reminiscing about life long friends, babying his cherished pets, and relaxing at the river to see silvers jump.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy Hollingsworth of Concrete. 2 sisters, Sylva ‘Tippy’ Latham and her husband Wayne and Iva ‘Toppy’ Brigge and her husband LeRoy all of Puyallup. Nieces and nephews, Lorie Irvin, Jeff Brigge, Patricia Bunney, and Suzie Bennett and numerous cousins and extended family and his beloved animals and pets.
Graveside Inurnment Services will be Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 3:00 PM at the Arlington Cemetery, corner of Hwy 9 and Olympic Arlington, WA. A Celebration of Life Gathering will follow the services at the Sedro-Woolley Eagles at Metcalf and Warner beginning at 5:30 PM.
