Carlie Mae Slattery, 83, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away on Saturday December 22, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Carlie was born on January 23, 1924 in Sedro-Woolley, the daughter of Leon & Dollie Murphy Cole. She was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1942.
On December 10, 1954 Carlie was united in marriage to Paul Slattery in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and they made their home in Ketchikan, Alaska. Carlie was a devoted wife and mother, tending to her family. She also kept busy as a den mother for her son’s cub scout troop, helping out at Holy Name Catholic Church and tending to her gardens.
In 1981 after Paul’s retirement they returned to Sedro-Woolley where she continued to enjoy gardening, sewing, playing cards, traveling and socializing with family and friends.
Carlie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul; a daughter, Patricia Small; a son, Gene Berkey and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Dixie Riley and her husband, Ken of Ketchikan, Alaska; 3 sons, Mike Berkey and his wife Nancy of Sedro-Woolley and twins, Jerry Berkey and his wife Shin of Ketchikan, and Terry Berkey of Craig, Alaska. A special nephew, Ron Slattery of Ketchikan, Alaska. 2 brothers, Bill Cole and Cal Cole and his wife Diane all of Sedro-Woolley. A son-in-law, Patrick Small and a daughter-in-law, Janet Reichl. Four sisters-in-law, Etta Madlung, Charmaine Slattery, Rose Cole and Teak Cole; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested to a charity of your choice.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 1:00 PM with Father Armando Guzman, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
