Cecil E. Johnson a longtime resident of Skagit and Whatcom County passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003 at the Rosewood Villa Care Center in Bellingham, WA at the age of 88 years. He was born September 18, 1914 in Juliaetta, Idaho the son of Fred and Clara Dygert Johnson. Cecil moved with his family from Weippe, Idaho to Marblemount in 1937 and On November 25, 1938 he was married to Norma E. Taylor in Sedro-Woolley. He resided in Sedro-Woolley for many years until moving to Bellingham in 1965 and later returning to Sedro-Woolley in 1980. Cecil worked as a logger and later in construction working on Baker Dam and retired from Uniflite Boat Builders in Bellingham in 1979. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and he quoted and wrote poetry, but he will be remembered for having a nickname for everyone he met. Cecil was preceded in death by his wife Norma in 1987, his parents, and three brothers Harold, Fred, and Ed Johnson. He is survived by his seven children Bill and his wife Bonnie Johnson of Sedro-Woolley, Sharon Ranta of Bellingham, Bob Johnson of Bellingham, Sandra and her husband Ron Wright of Bellingham, Marvin and his wife Evelyn Johnson of Sedro-Woolley, Jack and his wife Mary Johnson of Custer, and Judy Kenny of Bellingham. A brother Eldon and his wife Luella Johnson of Birdsview. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be Friday, May 9, 2003 at 2:00PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Ronald Wright of Bellingham officiating. Inurnment will be at the Saxon Cemetery at a later date.
