Cecil Ray ‘CK’ King, 74, a resident of the Birdsview community, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born on August 6, 1942 in Buckeye, AZ, the son of Raymond & Della (Bishop) King. He was raised and attended school in both California and Oregon.
CK worked on his families dairy farm in Oregon and in residential construction before beginning a career in the timber industry, where he did it all, for several years working in Oregon, Washington and Alaska.
CK settled in the Skagit Valley in the early 1970’s where he logged and then operated his own farrier business for many years.
He was a loving husband, dad, brother, grandpa and friend; thank you for all the laughter with your stories of hunting, roping, and funning over your tom foolery. He had a gift of capturing an audience with his gift and love of music, no one was ever disappointed, and he sometimes even got an encore. He lived a colorful, adventurous life and lived it to the fullest, he was tough as nails and even cheated death many times.
CK, you’re loved so much and are already missed. We all have to say goodbye to our loved ones sometime; this is our sometime.
CK is survived by his companion and wife of over 40 years, Pam at the family home; his children and their spouses, Kimberly & Mark DeWilde, Shayne King, Jason & Michelle King, Travis & Kiersten King, Vicki & Randy Foley, Carrie McMurrin and Lynden & Tara Fox; numerous grand and great-grandchildren and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Joyce Lynn King and several brothers & sisters.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Hamilton Cemetery with Pastor Billy Farrar officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
I always enjoyed visiting with Cecil when he came to shoe our two horses in Clear Lake. He always had a funny story or two, and he was good with our horses. So sorry for your loss.
