Christopher Rick ‘Black Jack’ Tennial

Saturday, April 11th, 2020

Christopher Rick (Black Jack) Tennial was born on April 10, 1990 in Sacramento, California. In 1997 his mom and 4 siblings moved to Skagit County where he has remained. Chris passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2020.

Chris could be explained by his friends and family as the goofiest one in the bunch. There was not a moment that was laugh free when Chris was around. He had this brilliant quick witted humor that most were envious of. You never left his presence without a little chuckle. It was impossible to not love Chris, he had a way with his words, and charming smile that would light up the whole room. Chris had few friends, not because he wasn’t liked, but because he was so loved that friends QUICKLY became family.  You could find him watching the endless rap battle videos, you could catch him boxing his next component, learning the art of MMA. Although Christopher’s exterior was tough, his emotional release was through his beautifully written words. One of his very favorite things to do was hang out with his best guy friends and watch the latest Fight at Buffalo Wild Wings or sports keg. You could always find him home with his daughter and soulmate eating his choice of chicken and rice or spaghetti or Mexican food. This boy loved his food.

Chris was one of the absolute best, and the most loyal brother, uncle, nephew, friend, son, and partner on planet earth. In 2016, he became a father, and everyone knew that being Miliana’s Dad was what he was created to do. He was living before, but he came alive the moment he met her. His daughter was the absolute light in Christopher’s eye, heart, and soul. The bond that Christopher and Mili shared was unlike any other. From their movie cuddle sessions, play fights, to their shared love of sleeping in, every fiber of who he was loved his girl. Chris will always be Miliana’s protector, best friend, favorite laugh, light in the darkness, promise keeper, and above all else her daddy’s love.

Christopher is survived by his precious 3 year old daughter Miliana and his soulmate Unyque Savare; his mother, Betty Haslett of Skagit; his father, Jasper Tennial of Sacramento; his oldest brother, Damon Nelson and wife Maria, his sister, Aloysia Tennial, younger brother Trey and his wife Tiera; his baby brother, Markus and his wife Shelbi and adopted sister, Lamica Briscoe-Ray. Chris had an extended amount of siblings on his father’s side, including Rico Tennial and wife Jennifer. Christopher was the fun uncle to 7 amazing nieces and nephews (Keara, Damon, Amiyah-May, Eliza-Lynn, Kane, Jasmine, Egypt and his newest nephew Titus; maternal grandparents, Everett and Sandy Haslett. Chris had aunts, uncles and cousins of many different states. Although this is only his immediate biologically family we know that Christopher has countless other really close family members.   Chris was preceded in death by his sister, Markeshia; his Grandmother, Lois Haslett, and sister, Brittney Sharp.

The depth of pain that we are all experiencing is unreal, unlike any other. Through the power of that pain, we are making it our life mission to laugh more, love more, and care for people the way Christopher did.  As a Celebration of Life arrangements are being made a date will be determined as soon as possible. Although Miliana will have all the love and care any little girl could need, we know the absence of her father is something no daughter should have to experience. As a community we have decided to set up a trust fund for Miliana. In lieu of flowers we appreciate any donations to her, until we finalize the trust. All donations can be made to a gofund me account managed by his siblings. We are thankful to Lemley Chapel for all their help in such an unimaginable time.

Chris, I can’t begin to explain how much I miss you hermano. The man I am today was deeply shaped by the things we went thru together as young men in this fucked up world. Today I literally look up and miss you so much and start to get watery eyes because I can’t tell you how much I appreciated having met you. I saw you as a not just a true friend but my brother, a pillar of strength that was there for me and kept me positive. You always told me you didn’t want to see me while doing bad, but you always kept grinding for your little girl and I respected that so much. Plus I was just happy to see my bro again. There’s so many things we talked about that only YOU understood Chris. It’s gonna be hard dealing with this forever but I know you wouldn’t want me moping around being sad. I’m going to do things to honor your name everyday forever that’s just how great you are. This isn’t goodbye. I love you Chris.

    My brother.
My heart aches with you not here with us.
As you fly high with the angels, rest, for your work here is done. The way you loved us in your short time here on earth was so abundant that it will remind us for a lifetime.
I promise to love your girls fiercely, to always give you “home work assignments” and to laugh as often as you did!
My sweet sweet brother fly high💛

Chris, you always turned a bad day at work to be better. Came to work with smile and ready for whatever. I remember one day you came late and I found out you had accident on the way to work but still you made your commitment to showed up. We didn’t work together often, we worked under same property but different hotel. But whenever I get to sent to work with you, you helped me get through the day. And I thank you for that.

Chris, It was an honor to get to know you. Your work ethics, your patience, your humble and your humor. Those are only little comparing what you truly are. You made strangers turn into family easily. Your present made everything’s better, cheery and lively. And I thank you for that.

Chris, I hope you know, you touched so many people. People who crossed path with you for decades, months, weeks (like me) or even a single day. I hope you know how many people hurt but above all hope you know how many people love you. And I thank you for that.

Chris, again, it was really an honor to know you. Until then my friend, save space for me, rest easy and see you when I see you, and Thank You!

    Much Respect
