Cleo G. Johnson, 94, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, died on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born on June 8, 1914 in Burlington, Washington, the daughter of George H. & Rosa Lee Berry Clark. She attended school in Burlington until the fourth grade when the family moved to Sedro-Woolley where she continued her education, graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1933.
She was united in marriage to Alfred Johnson in Mount Vernon on August 22, 1933 and they made their home in Forks, Washington until 1936 when they returned to Sedro-Woolley.
Cleo worked at Northern State Hospital in Sedro-Woolley for several years until resigning to take the nursing course at Skagit Valley College. She returned to work at Northern State Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working there until its closure. She then took a job as Director of Nurses at the Burton Convalescent Center in Burlington for several years until her retirement.
Cleo elected to serve God in the early 1940’s, and has been faithful ever since.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Kendall Wayne & Juanita Johnson of Sedro-Woolley, Myrna & Jack Shelton of Arlington, WA and Karen & Delvin Wildfang of Sedro-Woolley. Nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred in 1988; two brothers, George Clark & John Rowland; a sister, Lois Extine and a great-grandson, Travis Benjamin Wildfang.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Darryl Doland officiating. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Visitation is available on Tuesday thru Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM at Lemley Chapel.
