Cleo Grace Meins passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley on August 13, 2010 at the age of 95.

She was born on May 30, 1915 in Elbe, Washington to George and Gladys (Cook) Ailport.

Cleo attended grade schools in Tacoma and graduated from Stadium High School.  She then went on to graduate from Modern Beauty School in that City and had a beauty shop in her home for many years.

She married George Meins in 1944 and they were married 63 years at the time of his death in 2007.

Cleo loved flowers and animals and had a healing touch for any creature injured or sick.  She enjoyed playing pinochle with her pinochle club in her younger years, garage sales, and reading.   Cleo also enjoyed talking about her years in Skagway, Alaska,  where  she lived with her husband as he was working on the Yukon, White Pass Railroad.

Cleo and George spent many summers in their RV in Soap Lake, Washington where they made many friends from other areas.   She was a hardworking lady with a very generous and kind heart.

Cleo was preceded in death by her husband George Meins and sons George Meins Jr,  Gene Bixby and Larry Burke.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marjean Burke and granddaughters, Sheri Mayville and Margo Burke and grandsons,  Travis Meins and family, Jody Burke and family,  Alan Burke and family, and David Bixby and family as well as grandchildren in Indiana,  and great-granddaughters Ashley Llewellyn and Becki Mayville and a niece Debbie Meins and family.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley for their extraordinary care and compassion.

Graveside Services will be Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Hamilton Cemetery.  Arrangements and Services  under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

    It is a sad .wednessday ..grandma (my ex-mother-in law) you are in a far better place…you are not lonley anymore and are with the ones you love….i will call ashley and becki once in awhile for you……..can still vision her going up in the loft in the barn to fine those kittens befor grandpa and fell and broke her wrist ….hell of away to try to hide them from him…. will miss ya..

    So many memories from childhood till now! All the summers in SoapLake, swimming with you and Grandpa! The trip home with the trailer from SoapLake that i drove and you telling to keep both hands on the wheel! Me and Grandpa laughed all the way!!!
