                                                  Connie D. Glass    4/6/1943 – 4/7/2022

Well known long-time fisherman, Connie Glass, skipper of the “Anita Ann”, reeled in his final catch October 18, 2021 on the Skagit River at Rockport.  Connie was first introduced to the Rockport area in the late 1970’s on an outing with the Steelhead Club.

His enthusiasm spread to family and friends who soon joined him to enjoy the camping, fishing and scenic beauty. In 1983 Anita and Connie purchased a small home in Rockport on Railroad Ave. Ten years later Connie retired from Bremerton Shipyard, and they moved to Rockport.

Connie’s radiant smile and huge hugs bespoke of his gentle nature and Christian heart. Fun loving and generous he freely shared his passion for fishing with many, sometimes it was just the peaceful time on the river they needed. His outgoing personality made him a great fit for 16 years of seasonal work at Howard Miller Steelhead Park.

Connie was born in Tacoma, WA, to Daniel and Inez Johnson Glass, eldest of 2 sons.  He married his high school sweetheart, Anita Wagner, they had 2 daughters. In her later years Anita was housebound by a debilitating disease, and lovingly cared for by Connie and daughter Dawn.  Anita passed away in 2015.

In 2017 Connie married Nancy Joy of Birdsview, WA. And though he relocated, he firmly maintained he was still a Rockportian. Connie passed away at home from CLL. Besides Nancy, he leaves his daughters, Deanna (Duane) Stern of Hamilton area, Dawn Birch; grandson, Darrel Birch, both of Rockport; brother, Dale (JoAnn) Glass of Tacoma.  Additionally, numerous members of Anita’s large and loving family and many longtime friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00, on Monday, June 6, 2022, at the St. Catherine Catholic Church, 45603 Limestone, Concrete, WA., with  Father Paul Magnano presiding, reception following in the parish hall. Share your memories of Connie and sign the online guest register.
