Darlene ‘Grace’ Nieshe

Thursday, January 6th, 2022

Darlene ‘Grace’ Nieshe, 76, a lifetime resident of Skagit County, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 6, 2022. She was born on August 29, 1945 in Concrete, Washington. One of 7 children to Thomas J. and Revonda A. Dellinger.

She was raised in Rockport on the Homestead with her brothers and sister Toby Buchanan, Tommy Dellinger, Doug Dellinger, Bruce Dellinger, Ellen (Gaye) and Mike Dellinger.  Grace worked as a chef for many years in Rockport and in Concrete, she was also the type setter for Concrete Herald for a period of time. Grace was also a member of the Rockport Volunteer Fire Department.

Grace attended the Concrete school district and would often tell stories about attending the old grade school in Rockport as well as being in the old school that was on the hill in town.

Grace and Lory were married at their home in Birdsview where she most known for being a homemaker, tending her garden, cooking, crafting and caring for her family.  Grace was known for her beautiful smile and kind heart. She always was willing to give you advice whether you took it or not that was on the person the advice was being given to.

Grace is survived by her children, Clifford of Mount Vernon, WA, Stacey and companion Bob of Aurora MO, Stephanie and her husband Sean of Copras Cove TX, Elizabeth and her husband Victor of Birdsview; grandchildren, Clifford Jr, Lillian, Nikolii (Katherine), Spencer, Bernard, Dakota, Morgan, Robyn, Inara, David Jr, Mason, Brooklyn, Ryker and Layken; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tommy and Mike; sister, Ellen (Gaye); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and an obscene amount of extended family members that she dearly loved and adopted as her own extra children and grandchildren. Grace had a special friend Lou Ann Krause and her husband Jim that her and Lory used to love conversing with and camping.

Gracie was proceeded in death by her husband, Lory Nieshe; her parents, Thomas and Revonda; siblings, Toby, Doug, and Bruce; two stepchildren, Steven and Linda Nieshe.

Anyone who knew Gracie was a better person, she gave advice from the bottom of her heart, whether you liked what she said, or you didn’t, she would still tell you she loved you. One of her biggest things throughout her final days were please don’t cry for me, it won’t change the outcome, you’ll just get wrinkles from crying, make them laugh lines that’s better. Every conversation was ended with ‘I love you and God Bless.’

Special thanks to Hospice of the Northwest and United General Hospital ACU, as well as a special heart felt thank you to Karen Nystuen for your support and help through her final days. In lieu of donations they can be made at Savi Bank in Concrete under Darlene’s name. A Graveside Inurnment is planned on April 4, 2022 in Hamilton on Lory’s birthday.
