Darrel Wayne Allen, age 74, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2009 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington.

He was born on April 21, 1934 in Clear Lake, Washington to Lee and Clara Edzinga Allen.
Darrel grew up in Clear Lake attending school and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School.
He was married to Donna Krieger on August 13, 1954 in Mount Vernon and they resided in Clear Lake. While residing in Clear Lake, Darrel was a member of the Clear Lake Fire Department and was a former chief. He worked in the woods for a few years and then worked for Hugo Helmer Music as a television technician. Darrel then commercial fished in Alaska for 3 years and returned to work for the Burlington School District at the Allen Grade School as a custodian until his retirement. After his retirement, he and Donna moved to Lopez Island residing there for 15 years and for the past 15 years, he has resided in Tokeland, WA.
Darrel loved to fish, clam dig, and tinker with cars. He enjoyed woodworking and he would make toys for children. Darrel enjoyed camping, but most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of Nature Conservatory and for many years he sponsored two children to attend camp sponsored by the Salvation Army.

Darrel is survived by his wife Donna Allen of Tokeland, WA. 4 daughters, Denise Anderson of Stevenson, WA, Deanna McIntyre and her husband K.C. of Mount Vernon, Doreen Cobbin and her husband Sandy of Mount Vernon, and Darla Thomas and her companion, Ben Arendse of Burlington.
10 grandchildren, Chris Anderson and his wife Marilyn, Rhonda Estep and her husband Brent, Michael McIntyre, Angelia Rasmussen and husband Dennis, Kenneth McIntyre, Stephanie Bouffiou and her husband Ryan, Duncan Cobbin, Randy Chritton and his wife Krysta, Misty Crider and her husband Michael, and Matthew Thomas. 15 great grandchildren, Michael, Nathan, Stacey, Tyler, Ashley, Emma Grace, Madelyn, Kourtney, Tristan, Josaphine, Julia, Emmarae, Makenna Joanne, Dreysen, Logan, and one on the way. 2 brothers, Jerry Allen and his wife Ella and Raymond Allen and his wife Jan all of Sedro-Woolley and a sister-in-law, Irene Allen of Mount Vernon. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dale Allen.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 1:00PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley will interment to follow at the Clear Lake Cemetery at 3:00PM. Visitation will be available Friday and Saturday and Sunday up to service time at Lemley Chapel. Memorials are suggested to your local Food Bank or the Salvation Army.
