David Queen

Sunday, April 3rd, 2022

David Ronald Queen, age 80, passed away April 3, 2022, in Bellingham, Washington.  He was born August 14, 1941, in Caney Fork, North Carolina to Huff and Lilla Mae (Corne) Queen.

David moved with his family to Lyman, WA as a child.  He graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School, class of 1959.  David served in the United States Army then worked in auto manufacturing in St Louis, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan.  He returned to Lyman and married the love of his life, June Mitchell.  They had two children, Matt and Caryn.  David worked at Skagit Steel in Sedro-Woolley and Oso Lumber in Arlington before retiring.  David enjoyed the outdoors: hiking, camping and fishing with friends and family.  He was a member of the Northwest Missionary Baptist Church in Hamilton.  David’s faith was the foundation of his life and how he treated others.

David is survived by his son, Matthew Queen; daughter, Caryn Queen and granddaughter, Sophia Belisle all of Bellingham; sister, Doris June (Robert) Groves of Valparaiso, Indiana; brother, W.L. “Dub” (Marti) Queen of Burlington, WA and many nieces and nephews.

David was reunited in heaven with his wife, June, and parents Huff and Lilla Mae.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00, Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Hamilton Cemetery, Mister Robert Anderson presiding.  A reception will immediately follow at Birdsview Fire Hall.  Share your memories of David and sign the online guest register.

I am so thankful that we got to visit you again (due to Covid) and talk, laugh and spend time together before you went to be with Jesus. You have always been a blessing in my life and I will miss you so very much Uncle David. I am rejoicing that you are now in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ and all the loved ones who have gone on before. I praise God that I know I will get to see you again one day! I never heard you say a bad word about anyone, you were always gentle and kind. You were an example to follow. You stood by your faith and reminded us of how we should act as a child of God. Thank you for that example. I love you! I’ll see you one day soon!

I will remember fondly growing up and going to cousin David and June’s busting with Matt and Caryn while our parents played cards.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Matt and Caryn.
    David will be missed
